Hand Printed Silk Scarves
These silk scarves are hand printed using the simple breakdown printing technique.  They are printed using small screens to give the impression of pages of tissue paper laid side by side.  This style of printing gives a lovely imperfect and ever changing dimension to the print design.

Hand Printed Linen

Simply hand printed linen cloth.

Linen & Black Series

My inspiration for this series of work originated from ink and bleach drawings that explored, through mark making, the breakdown of regular pattern into irregularity. This fed into the use of natural linen contrasted with black in grid formations. When deconstructed, using hand manipulated finishing techniques, these echoed the spontaneity of the original drawings.
The pieces elicit calm and contemplation created using traditional hand weaving methods with a contemporary and subtle approach to design.  Within my making process I see the repetitive, rhythmical nature of hand weaving as an almost meditative experience and aim to reflect this within my work.

Blue & White Series

A series of work including hand woven canvas pieces and lengths of cloth.  These pieces are all indigo dyed warp Ikat technique, woven in cotton and swedish linen. The canvases are each 40 x 40cm in size.  The Ikat cloth lengths are each L3m x W60cm.  Exhibited at 'Collect' at Saatchi Gallery London 2011 & 'Blue' at Flow Gallery, Nottinghill London 2011.

Scroll Series

A series of scroll pieces hand woven with linen and silk and incorporating torn cloth strips. Finished with various techniques of applying indigo dye. The smaller sized scrolls are L95 x W45cm and the very large scrolls are L250 x W70cm.

Square Canvas Series

A series of hand woven warp ikat pieces stretched over frames to resemble canvases. These works are woven in tussah silk & linen which is dyed with indigo. Each piece is 40 x 40 cm in size and designed to be hung either individually or in groups and can be rotated to create various designs.
