Hand Printed Silk Scarves
These silk scarves are hand printed using the simple breakdown printing technique. They are printed using small screens to give the impression of pages of tissue paper laid side by side. This style of printing gives a lovely imperfect and ever changing dimension to the print design.
Hand Printed Linen
Simply hand printed linen cloth.
Linen & Black Series
My inspiration for this series of work originated from ink and bleach drawings that explored, through mark making, the breakdown of regular pattern into irregularity. This fed into the use of natural linen contrasted with black in grid formations. When deconstructed, using hand manipulated finishing techniques, these echoed the spontaneity of the original drawings. The pieces elicit calm and contemplation created using traditional hand weaving methods with a contemporary and subtle approach to design. Within my making process I see the repetitive, rhythmical nature of hand weaving as an almost meditative experience and aim to reflect this within my work.
