'Mottainai' collection of bespoke textiles.
2024

A tactile sample collection of bespoke hand woven, hand manipulated cloth. UF's Mottainai Initiative has given me the opportunity to create bespoke hand woven textiles using their beautiful premium fabrics.

Joseph & Anni Albers Foundation.
2022 Residency

A two-month residency at the Josef & Anni Albers Foundation in Connecticut, USA, provided invaluable time and space to explore new ideas. The outcome was a body of tactile woven works, experimenting with materials new to my practice.

This included three distinct material explorations: the sturdy yet pliable nature of woven leather, the hard yet porous qualities of veneer, and the crisp, sculptural properties of raffia.

Rosewood Little Dix Bay Commission
2019

A commissioned hand-dyed, woven, and stitched linen piece from my *Linen & Black* series, featuring a grid design and fine thread detailing, will be framed and displayed in the Great Room of a luxurious Caribbean resort. If only a site visit had been required!

Rosewood Little Dix Bay, an eco-friendly resort ahead of its time, has centered its design on the natural environment for over half a century, offering sustainable luxury and undiluted tropical splendor.

Tate Modern Commission
2018-19

A rewarding experience of collaborating with the Tate Modern on their retrospective of weaver Anni Albers (1899-1994), the first major UK exhibition of her textiles. I worked closely with curators Ann Coxon, Briony Fer, and Pryiesh Mistry in two roles:

- As a Woven Textiles Expert, overseeing the loan and installation of a countermarch loom displayed at the exhibition entrance.
- I was also commissioned to create a series of handwoven ‘handling’ samples for the final room of the exhibition (Oct 2018–Jan 2019).

These commissioned pieces, inspired by Albers’ work, showcased contemporary handweaving techniques and were specifically designed to be handled by the public, as the original works could not be touched.

Linen & Black

Inspired by ink and bleach drawings exploring the breakdown of patterns, this series translates those ideas into natural linen and black grids. Deconstructed with hand-manipulated techniques, the pieces echo the spontaneity of the original sketches. Traditional hand weaving, combined with a subtle contemporary design, evokes calm and contemplation, reflecting the meditative rhythm of the weaving process.
